Senior Software Engineer, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the design, development, and management of backend services that support the Coinbase One membership lifecycle, encompassing sign-up processes, subscription management, and recurring payment handling.

• Create scalable platform functionalities for delivering targeted benefits, promotional incentives, and tailored membership experiences.

• Collaborate with frontend, product, design, and payments teams to define, launch, and refine customer-facing membership features.

• Lead backend architecture decisions within the Coinbase One product domain.

• Develop standards for reliability, extensibility, and integration with the wider Coinbase platform services.

• Enhance service reliability, observability, and performance throughout the backend infrastructure.

• Actively identify and address production issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in backend software engineering.

• Proven history of deploying and managing production services at scale.

• Experience in constructing subscription, payment, or commerce systems, including recurring billing, entitlements, or promotional logic.

• Expertise in Go or a comparable backend systems language (such as Java, C++, or Rust), with the ability to transition to a Go-focused codebase.

• Capability to design and maintain APIs and distributed systems that integrate across web and mobile product interfaces.

• Experience managing ambiguous projects from initial scoping to production with minimal supervision.

• Collaborative experience with product and design teams.

• Responsible engagement with generative AI under human oversight.
