Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Design and develop new products from start to finish, encompassing front end, back end, data, and infrastructure.

• Transform product ideas from architectural sketches into prototypes, pilots, and minimum viable products (MVPs).

• Manage integrations that involve Pearson APIs and platforms, client learning systems, HR platforms, and identity providers.

• Execute OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, events, webhooks, LTI, SCORM, and xAPI integrations as relevant.

• Tailor engineering practices to suit concept tests and production-level products.

• Collaborate directly with client technical teams for discovery, scoping, deployment, and troubleshooting.

• Equip products with telemetry and evaluation data to inform kill-or-scale decisions.

• Leverage AI in development processes and, when suitable, in products themselves.

• Develop concepts, engage in research sessions, and evaluate feasibility.

• Collaborate with platform, security, and architecture teams for product integration.

• Act as a senior individual contributor without managing direct reports.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in software engineering.

• Comprehensive full-stack capabilities.

• Proven history of building products from the ground up as a founder, founding engineer, or as part of a labs, incubation, or new-products team.

• Proficient in designing and utilizing REST and GraphQL APIs.

• Familiarity with authentication and identity management flows.

• Experience in event-driven architectures and data transfer between systems.

• Ability to think systemically within complex enterprise settings.

• Practical engineering judgment.

• Comfortable with contemporary AI-assisted development practices.

• Strong communication skills tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience in client-facing engineering communications.

• Nice to have: Experience with LTI, SCORM, xAPI, QTI, Caliper, 1EdTech, and LMS/LXP integrations.

• Nice to have: Knowledge of W3C and WHATWG web standards.

• Nice to have: Understanding of WCAG and practical accessibility principles.

• Nice to have: Participation in standards bodies, committees, or working groups.

• Nice to have: Experience translating research findings into actionable build decisions.
