This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Develop, test, and launch live streaming encoding platforms along with video processing and publishing workflows.
• Create and sustain automated quality assurance systems that are integrated with continuous integration and deployment methodologies.
• Conduct end-to-end automation testing for video acquisition, processing, delivery, and playback.
• Establish metrics and alerts for monitoring live streaming events and identifying potential reliability risks.
• Mentor and support engineers while promoting collaboration and technical excellence.
• Enhance QA workflow automation by utilizing internal services.
• Review testing plans at various stages in the video pipeline.
• Analyze testing reports and document any identified bugs.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans and test cases.
• Monitor defect resolutions and collaborate with developers to prevent, report, and resolve issues.
• Provide quality assurance support both prior to and following deployment.
• Investigate issues within the live streaming workflow using logs and metrics, troubleshoot, and recommend mitigations.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and availability of the platform between developer teams and internal customers.
• Test new product features and offer feedback for the video streaming platform.
• Collaborate with platform teams to design and test comprehensive video streaming workflows.
• Assist with video infrastructure quality assurance and monitoring during major league launches, including UFC and NFL.
• Standardize regression practices and enhance automation quality assurance coverage.
• Proficient in developing pytest automated testing frameworks or similar, with knowledge of automated testing strategies.
• Experience with distributed systems and quality assurance strategies for fault-tolerant architectures.
• Over 7 years of experience in live streaming video or distributed software quality assurance.
• Strong skills in troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to drive issues to resolution and perform root cause analysis.
• Familiarity with HLS, DASH, CMAF, SRT, Zixi, RTP, and RTMP.
• Knowledge of H264, HEVC, VP9, AV1, and AAC codecs.
• Understanding of DRM, SCTE-104/35, closed captioning, and digital ad insertion.
• Experience with AWS Media Services or similar vendors.
• Knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, and XML.
• Ability to collaborate with internal business units and teams having diverse technical backgrounds.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience with Docker; familiarity with Kubernetes is preferred.
• Knowledge of AWS, GCP, or OCI along with Terraform.
• Exposure to Python REST APIs, FastAPI, and Celery.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with Rust is preferred.
• Experience in live streaming operations is preferred.
