Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Enhance the Druid query engine and storage system to accommodate a broader range of query functions.

• Develop intricate query functionalities with optimal performance levels.

• Collaborate with the field engineering team to provide exceptional customer support.

• Foster the growth of the Apache Druid community through code contributions and design evaluations.

• Engage in SQL planning, query optimization, query functions, distributed query execution, vectorization, and storage enhancement.

• Take part in the development and technical strategy of the open-source Apache Druid initiative.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in developing high-concurrency, performance-focused Java systems.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an individual contributor.

• Strong understanding of effective software engineering practices, including code reviews and a keen focus on testability and quality.

• Excellent communication skills: capable of articulating complex technical ideas to designers, support personnel, and fellow engineers.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).

• Familiarity with the internals of large-scale distributed systems and databases such as Hadoop, Spark, Presto, and ElasticSearch (preferred).

• Proven track record of contributions to open-source projects (a plus).
