Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Create and develop production systems from scratch, which includes scalable backend services, both internal and external APIs, and data models that support intricate financial workflows.

• Oversee full-stack features from initial concept through to architecture, frontend execution, backend logic, and deployment.

• Develop and enhance workflows powered by AI agents for underwriting, risk monitoring, collections, and payments.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.

• Contribute to engineering practices and standards, which encompasses code review protocols, architectural patterns, and the integration of AI tools.

• Engage in code reviews and offer constructive feedback.

• Collaborate with engineers, architects, designers, and product managers.

• Experiment while ensuring production quality is upheld.

• Assist in architecting and developing agentic systems that facilitate Gynger's credit risk function.

• Influence the product, architecture, and the development methodologies of the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 5 years of professional experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js.

• Preferred: experience in a tech lead or team lead role, particularly as a founding or early engineer who contributed to building something from the ground up.

• Proven backend expertise, including the design of scalable APIs, databases, and system architecture.

• A history of constructing full applications from the ground up, including modular full-stack systems.

• Experience in releasing and managing applications within a cloud environment, such as GCP or AWS.

• Proficient in using AI development tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot on a daily basis.

• A track record of assisting teams in enhancing engineering practices and standards.

• Strong sense of ownership and comfort working in a fast-paced, innovative startup atmosphere.

• Experience in FinTech, B2B SaaS, or agentic B2B software is preferred but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with AI agent-based system development is advantageous but not essential.

• Background in backend policies, data flows, and intricate business logic is beneficial but not required.
