This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Develop and enhance fundamental systems that assess safety detections and decide which events should be presented to customers.
• Increase detection accuracy by identifying unclear cases, redirecting low-value reviews, and automating high-confidence triage processes.
• Collaborate across backend systems, data, and AI-driven decision-making to enhance both product quality for customers and efficiency in internal reviews.
• Work in partnership with product, design, AI, and ML infrastructure teams to refine model feedback loops and safety detections.
• Manage intricate projects from conception and design through to deployment, evaluation, and iterative production improvements.
• Leverage modern AI-assisted engineering practices for prototyping, implementation, troubleshooting, and iterative development.
• Elevate quality, operability, and engineering clarity throughout Samsara’s Safety platform.
• Over 4 years of experience in software development, mainly focusing on backend or distributed systems.
• Proven experience on a product engineering team delivering systems that address genuine customer needs.
• Clear focus on customer experience and the ability to link technical decisions to customer value.
• Regular utilization of modern AI coding and reasoning tools, coupled with sound judgment to validate outputs and uphold correctness, maintainability, and reliability.
• Strong foundation in programming and software engineering principles.
• Experience with production systems in at least one contemporary programming language.
• Proven experience in designing and constructing large-scale, high-throughput systems.
• Experience working in a data-driven and data-supported environment.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills across teams and functions.
• Capability to lead technical discussions in a clear and constructive manner.
• Preferred: experience in developing AI-native engineering workflows.
• Preferred: familiarity with real-world human or AI review systems.
• Preferred: partnership experience with AI or ML teams and knowledge of classifier-based systems.
• Preferred: extensive experience in backend-oriented programming languages like Go, Java, or similar.
• Preferred: experience in designing orchestrated pipelines or workflow-based systems such as Temporal.
• Preferred: experience in data experimentation and iteration.
• Preferred: a data-driven mindset.
• Preferred: a history of improving systems, contributing to team culture, mentoring, and assisting teammates in achieving better outcomes.
