Senior Software Engineer, AI Developer Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance background-agent infrastructure to ensure dependable, traceable, and repeatable automated engineering operations.

• Construct systems to assess agent performance based on task outcomes, quality metrics, human intervention, costs, and various signals.

• Generate evaluation sets and feedback mechanisms to refine AI systems through meticulous review, tuning, and correction.

• Enhance how engineers discover, comprehend, and utilize shared AI tools and workflows.

• Assess AI development tools, such as code generation, AI-assisted review, and testing, in relation to actual engineering requirements.

• Integrate beneficial AI development tools into existing systems.

• Develop insight into valuable tools and workflows, identify friction points, and recommend necessary evolutions.

• Produce guidance and documentation for AI-enhanced development methodologies.

• Optimize code review processes by leveraging feedback from real engineering tasks.

• Impact the core principles of an autonomous software factory and structured engineering-task systems.

• Collaborate with engineers and internal users to grasp their needs, validate solutions, and navigate product trade-offs.

• Transition ambiguous, dependency-laden projects from exploratory phases to consistent delivery.

• Elevate quality through code reviews, technical design discussions, testing, observability, reliability, and security measures.

• Partner with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders as a reliable and collaborative team member.

• Significant experience in the software engineering industry.

• Proven track record in taking on technical leadership roles within teams or on complex projects.

• Background in enhancing AI systems, creating evaluation sets, and driving quality improvements through measurement and iterative processes.

• Strong foundational knowledge in software engineering, with experience in designing, building, testing, and maintaining reliable systems.

• Familiarity with developer tools, AI-enabled workflows, agentic systems, infrastructure, or other related technical areas.

• Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, break down complex problems, manage dependencies, and facilitate project completion.

• Experience working in rapidly growing startups or larger organizations, especially in environments that prioritize action.

• Proactive and action-oriented approach, with a willingness to engage directly with users and participate hands-on.

• Strong product judgment and curiosity, along with solid technical opinions centered on user-focused platforms.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clarify technical concepts and produce adoption guidance.
