DevOps Engineer, Edge and Developer Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.

📋 Description

• Contribute to Smartsheet’s high-performance edge proxy platform by maintaining, enhancing, and expanding the reverse proxy.

• Develop automation scripts in Go and Python while managing container images on secured Linux environments.

• Collaborate with CDN and traffic management functionalities.

• Implement Terraform/Terragrunt modules and live configurations for EKS clusters, load balancers, IAM roles, and AWS services.

• Aid in managing multi-region EKS deployments using GitOps workflows and Helm charts.

• Design, maintain, and optimize shared GitLab CI/CD pipeline templates with DevSecOps safeguards.

• Create tools for container image patching, EKS AMI rotation, and automated patching cycles.

• Provision and manage Datadog SLOs, monitors, and dashboards.

• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response activities.

• Support Developer Experience platform launches and integrations.

• Utilize AI-driven workflows to enhance project execution, infrastructure design, and debugging processes.

• Report to an engineering lead based in Bulgaria.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.

• A BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Practical experience with Terraform for cloud infrastructure management.

• Experience in Kubernetes operations and AWS services (EKS, VPC, IAM, ECR).

• Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language, preferably Go or Python.

• Experience in designing or maintaining CI/CD pipelines, with a preference for GitLab CI/CD.

• Understanding of container image security practices and GitOps workflows.

• Willingness to engage in on-call rotations and incident responses.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Fluency in English is required.

• Familiarity with AI-driven workflows for code/infrastructure authoring or maintenance.

• Must be legally eligible to work in Bulgaria on a continuous basis.

• Nice to have: understanding of reverse proxies, API gateways, or load balancers.

• Nice to have: familiarity with FedRAMP or AWS GovCloud operational constraints.

• Nice to have: experience managing Datadog resources through infrastructure as code.

• Nice to have: experience integrating internal developer portals or feature flag management tools.
