Senior Software Development Engineer – Test

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and develop scalable testing systems, platforms, and infrastructure that simulate real-world production scenarios.

• Create software and tools to evaluate application performance, reliability, scalability, and infrastructure behavior under high traffic conditions.

• Establish and maintain capabilities for load, performance, stress, and synthetic testing for applications catering to millions of users worldwide.

• Develop testing environments and procedures that ensure new code and infrastructure can scale effectively in production.

• Produce high-quality code in TypeScript, Python, or similar languages for building testing tools, automation, and supporting systems.

• Design tests to uncover performance bottlenecks related to latency, bandwidth, application speed, infrastructure capacity, and resource usage.

• Integrate automated testing and quality assurance into CI/CD pipelines and engineering workflows.

• Collaborate with cloud-hosted applications and infrastructure across platforms such as AWS, Cloudflare, Google Cloud, or similar providers.

• Utilize Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or equivalent technologies to create repeatable and scalable testing environments.

• Work closely with platform engineers to comprehend system architecture, production behavior, and infrastructure limitations.

• Analyze test outcomes and production-like workloads to identify scalability risks prior to changes impacting real-world traffic.

• Contribute to the establishment of technical standards, systems, and processes for a newly focused engineering testing function.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong professional experience in software engineering with the capability to independently design, build, and maintain software systems.

• Proficient coding skills in TypeScript, Python, or other modern programming languages.

• Experience in developing automated testing systems, engineering tools, testing infrastructure, or similar software-driven quality assurance solutions.

• Practical experience in load testing, performance testing, stress testing, synthetic testing, or large-scale application validation.

• Background in working with applications or platforms that serve millions of users or visitors, ideally at the multi-million or tens-of-millions scale.

• Experience with cloud-hosted applications and infrastructure utilizing AWS, Google Cloud, Cloudflare, or similar platforms.

• Strong comprehension of DevOps, platform engineering, infrastructure, scalability, and modern software deployment practices.

• Familiarity with CI/CD processes and integrating automated validation into continuous integration and deployment workflows.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Pulumi, or similar technologies.

• Solid understanding of application performance concepts including latency, bandwidth, throughput, scalability, reliability, and infrastructure optimization.

• Ability to independently investigate complex technical issues and devise solutions with minimal oversight.

• Proficient written and spoken English skills to communicate technical decisions and collaborate effectively with a distributed engineering team.

• Preferred: Experience in supporting globally distributed applications that serve tens of millions of monthly visitors.

• Preferred: Experience with high-traffic e-commerce platforms or other large-scale consumer-facing applications.

• Preferred: Experience working with custom or internally developed platforms rather than primarily testing third-party or off-the-shelf software.

• Preferred: Experience optimizing applications or infrastructure where speed, latency, bandwidth, and infrastructure costs are crucial considerations.

• Preferred: Experience building testing infrastructure or frameworks from scratch rather than mainly operating within established QA systems.

• Preferred: Background in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering, performance engineering, or infrastructure engineering.

• Preferred: Experience in fast-paced startup or lean engineering environments where engineers have substantial ownership and autonomy.
