This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Design and develop key features and services for the API Platform.
• Engage in architectural discussions and assess the trade-offs between short-term and long-term technical solutions.
• Adhere to and enhance technical standards and best practices.
• Detect risks, bugs, technical debt, and opportunities for system enhancement.
• Produce high-quality, thoroughly tested, and maintainable code.
• Evaluate code for accuracy, performance, and clarity.
• Participate in on-call duties and troubleshoot production issues.
• Guide junior engineers through code reviews, collaborative work, and technical mentorship.
• Share expertise and assist in onboarding new engineers.
• Involve in the interviewing and hiring process.
• Collaborate with engineers across CVS Health to understand requirements and integrate with the API Platform.
• Communicate updates, obstacles, and technical decisions effectively.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
• Contribute to technical discussions and team decision-making processes.
• Stay updated with industry trends.
• Assist in developing proofs of concept for new technologies and methodologies.
• Assess tools and techniques for their practical applicability to the platform.
• 5+ years of experience in web development.
• Strong expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks, with a preference for React and Next.js.
• Experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Proven track record of owning features or components from design through to production.
• Ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to team members and stakeholders.
• Experience in mentoring or facilitating the growth of fellow engineers.
• Background in working with production systems that require real-world scale and reliability.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• High school diploma with 4 years of relevant work experience as an alternative educational background.
• Preferred: At least 2 years of experience in API development.
• Experience with front-end architecture and design systems.
• Experience in creating developer tools, libraries, or platforms.
• Knowledge of modern web performance optimization strategies.
• Experience with Node.js and server-side JavaScript.
• Understanding of API design principles and GraphQL.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools, processes, and culture.
• Experience contributing to inclusive engineering practices.
