Senior Site Reliability Engineer, SRE

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take responsibility for the reliability, scalability, and security of the Azure environment from start to finish.

• Transition infrastructure management to Terraform-driven infrastructure as code.

• Implement git-based workflows, including pull-request reviews, peer assessments, and module testing for infrastructure code.

• Design and execute Azure architecture, along with standards for resource organization, naming, tagging, and establishing subscription and management-group hierarchies, as well as network topology.

• Revamp and enforce strict least-privilege access controls across Azure RBAC, Entra ID, and service principals.

• Remove unnecessary or duplicated resource provisioning while enhancing cost visibility and accountability.

• Develop CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure modifications that include automated planning/applying, validation, and policy enforcement.

• Create monitoring, alerting, and observability frameworks using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, App Insights, or equivalent tools.

• Oversee and modernize the Windows-based on-premises product component, ensuring tighter integration with Azure.

• Apply infrastructure-as-code and automation practices to the AWS environment as required.

• Lead incident response efforts, conduct postmortems, manage SLOs, error budgets, and capacity planning.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to instill reliability, security, and infrastructure as code principles into software delivery processes.

• Provide mentorship to engineers on cloud technologies, infrastructure as code, and software engineering best practices.

• Set up operational models and standards for infrastructure transformation.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, or infrastructure engineering roles.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Azure.

• Proven expertise in Terraform, including module structures, state management, and managing complex multi-resource environments.

• Familiarity with git workflows, branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews.

• Experience in Windows Server administration, IIS, Active Directory/Entra ID, and Windows-based application frameworks.

• Strong knowledge of Azure networking concepts, such as VNets, peering, private endpoints, and Network Security Groups (NSGs).

• Comprehensive understanding of Azure identity management, including Entra ID, RBAC, service principals, and managed identities.

• Familiarity with Azure cost management tools.

• Working knowledge of core AWS services, including IAM, VPC, EC2, and ECS.

• Experience in integrating on-premises infrastructure with cloud environments, covering VPN/ExpressRoute, hybrid identity, and hybrid networking.

• Proven history of establishing structure and standards in environments that have developed organically or rapidly.

• Proficient scripting skills in PowerShell and/or Bash/Python.

• Excellent judgment in security and access control, with a focus on least-privilege principles.

• Ability to work independently, make architectural decisions, and promote adoption.

• Familiarity with Azure DevOps for managing infrastructure pipelines is a plus.

• Relevant certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, or HashiCorp Terraform Associate are advantageous.
