Senior Security Engineer – Cloud Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Evaluate infrastructure and tooling configurations to ensure that a robust security posture is established, upheld, and sustained throughout the Software Development LifeCycle.

• Detect internal infrastructure that may be vulnerable to known threats.

• Formulate solutions and spearhead initiatives to address identified vulnerabilities.

• Create systems that automatically respond to and resolve known security vulnerabilities or unsafe configurations.

• Develop systems that integrate with the Security Operations Center as well as identity and account management tools.

• Review, audit, and assist in drafting compliance policies.

• Address and rectify identified compliance deficiencies.

• Design and implement autonomous AI agents for security-related workflows.

• Incorporate AI agents into security operations and incident response processes.

• Mentor and guide junior cloud security engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• 4–6+ years of relevant experience.

• Proficiency in endpoint security, IDS/IDP, AV/AM, Firewall, and Integrity Monitoring systems.

• Experience with Kubernetes environments, monitoring, and security best practices; CKA and CKS certifications are preferred.

• Expertise in securing cloud infrastructure and assets within an enterprise-level product.

• Experience or interest in working directly with security incidents, security teams, and security researchers.

• Knowledge of cloud resource security, cloud configuration hardening, and cloud-native security architecture.

• Familiarity with container and cloud-native security best practices.

• Understanding of cloud networking, security groups, NACLs, VPC design, and API security.

• Knowledge of cloud IAM policies, RBAC, and methods to prevent privilege escalation.

• Familiarity with secrets management and credential security in cloud environments.

• Experience with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

• Familiarity with AWS Security Services, networking services, IAM, Lambda Functions, and CloudFormation is preferred.

• Experience with Azure security services such as Microsoft Defender, Azure Policy, and identity management is preferred.

• Development experience in Go or Python.

• Proficiency with RESTful APIs and cloud service integrations.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, including Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or ARM templates.

• Experience with automation of cloud security, orchestration, and compliance-as-code.

• Proven experience in building security tools and systems for automated cloud misconfiguration detection and remediation.

• Familiarity with cloud logging, monitoring, and alerting tools, such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and CloudTrail.

• Experience in designing and implementing autonomous AI agents for security workflows.

• Expertise in AI security and safety, adversarial testing, prompt injection defense, AI model security, and machine learning supply-chain security.

• Capability to write clean, maintainable security code using flow-state development practices.

• Familiarity with AWS Well-Architected Framework, Azure Well-Architected Framework, CIS Benchmarks, and cloud FedRAMP/HIPAA.

• Understanding of cloud data security and encryption, both at rest and in transit.

• Experience with multi-cloud and hybrid cloud security architecture.

• Demonstrated capability to mentor and guide junior cloud security engineers.

• Experience with cloud security assessment and cloud posture management tools; Wiz is preferred.

• Knowledge of security considerations for serverless and FaaS solutions.

• Strong communication, coordination, and collaboration skills in global remote work environments.
