This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design and oversee security solutions for products, internal applications, infrastructure, enterprise systems, and observability.
• Conduct threat modeling for both existing systems and new product initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with engineering teams to embed security into development and delivery workflows.
• Develop, enhance, and automate security alerts, detections, observability, and response workflows utilizing AI and agents.
• Engage in incident response and take a leadership role during incidents as part of the on-call rotation.
• Assist with governance, compliance, and regulatory initiatives, including SOC 2, ISO 27001, and PCI.
• Mentor engineers while sharing best practices in security.
• Contribute to defining security priorities and technical direction.
• Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external security vendors.
• Safeguard Shakepay’s infrastructure, products, and customer data, while enhancing its AI platform, security capabilities, and observability.
• Over 8 years of experience in security engineering, software engineering, or a related technical field, with substantial security experience.
• Strong technical knowledge in one or more security domains, with the capacity to contribute effectively across related areas.
• Advanced practical experience using AI tools, agents, and automation to enhance the scale and efficiency of security engineering efforts.
• Experience in cloud environments, preferably AWS.
• Practical experience with incident response and on-call rotations.
• Exceptional communication skills, solid technical judgment, and a strong sense of accountability.
• Proficiency in English is required.
• Assets include experience in fintech, cryptocurrency, or regulated environments; product security expertise; AI-assisted security testing; offensive security; vulnerability research; detection engineering; or security observability experience; knowledge of Bitcoin; and proficiency with Git/GitHub.
