This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee and enhance a sales territory that includes Independent Agencies with more intricate profiles.
• Cultivate relationships with agencies to maximize the growth potential of assigned accounts.
• Identify and onboard new agencies.
• Achieve or surpass year-over-year target objectives.
• Leverage Mercury sales tools and gather competitive insights.
• Collaborate with colleagues on product offerings, pricing strategies, and agency management choices.
• Schedule weekly in-person or virtual sales meetings within designated agency assignments.
• Provide management with insights and suggestions regarding market trends, service standards, and Company initiatives.
• Address phone and written inquiries, comments, questions, and concerns from agents and/or customers.
• Identify and assess potential agency prospects, forging mutually beneficial relationships.
• Participate in seminars and training sessions to enhance contributions through increased knowledge and skills.
• Assist in interviewing and training new employees as necessary.
• Develop assigned agencies in a profitable manner.
• Encourage agents to quote and promote Mercury products.
• Implement strategies to expand Mercury's market presence within the assigned territory.
• Modify sales tactics in response to company objectives and industry conditions.
• Collaborate with team members and departments to achieve company sales targets.
• Mentor and train junior sales representatives.
• Maintain an extensive pipeline of agent prospects.
• Employ a need-based sales approach to identify solutions for agency requirements.
• Create strategic plans for assigned agencies.
• Resolve complex issues with minimal oversight.
• Support agencies with Mercury systems and point-of-sale platforms.
• Ensure agency teams receive comprehensive training.
• Drive results through consistent agency engagement, data analysis, and metrics.
• Hold agency owners accountable for mutually established objectives.
• Communicate challenging situations effectively to gain buy-in.
• Maintain regular follow-up with agency partners and Mercury team members.
• Utilize data analytics tools to coach agents on their performance.
• Collect competitive intelligence.
• Attend group conventions and/or trade shows as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in the industry.
• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as per Company policy is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of sales experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in the Property & Casualty insurance sector is required.
• Strong professional communication skills, both written and verbal, in phone and virtual contexts.
• Comfortable participating in video conference calls as necessary.
• Ability to interact professionally with agencies and team members to achieve territory goals.
• Proficient in communicating effectively to support Company policies on complex matters, providing technical guidance, and leading training sessions.
• Ability to comprehend and interpret data.
• Business agility; capable of pivoting and adjusting quickly.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, training agencies both virtually and during in-person visits.
• Willingness to travel by air 10% of the time for company meetings or events.
• Willingness to travel by car 90% of the time for on-site agency visits.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Capability to motivate, monitor, and develop assigned agencies.
• Skills in negotiation and mediation.
• Ability to analyze complex reports and manage multiple assigned projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
• Familiarity with CRM system(s).
