This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Provide exceptional service to customers, external vendors, and government agencies while ensuring compliance with state and local tax regulations.
• Oversee sales and use tax audits across multiple states, focusing on strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
• Work in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Support business operations by identifying processes to reduce tax obligations.
• Analyze and enhance processes for improved efficiency, quality, and accuracy.
• Conduct audit defense for Sales & Use, Severance, Business Licenses, and Fuel Taxes in a multi-state context.
• Address tax-related issues raised by external customers.
• Respond to inquiries from internal customers and vendors about state and local tax matters.
• Prepare reconciliations for Sales and Use tax accounts.
• Execute research projects related to multi-state Sales & Use tax.
• Assist with due diligence assessments for multi-state and local taxes in the context of mergers and acquisitions.
• Provide research support for SAP and Vertex tax software.
• Draft technical communications to state officials regarding interpretations of tax laws.
• Apply for, secure, and enact special tax exemptions.
• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives for tax processes.
• Create, write, plan, and deliver training sessions for internal stakeholders.
• Aid in achieving Sales & Use Tax compliance objectives and undertake additional compliance responsibilities as necessary.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in multi-state sales & use tax audit defense.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
• Proficient in computer applications.
• Familiarity with Windows operating environment.
• Competent in word processing software.
• Skilled in Excel spreadsheet management.
• Experience with Vertex Software is a plus.
• SAP experience is advantageous.
• Strong social and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.

• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Proficient in developing and managing effective work processes.

• Availability for required overnight travel as needed.
• Physical ability to walk, sit, lift, push, and climb as necessary.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds consistently.
• Candidates may be subject to a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
• Flexibility to work remotely.
• Required overnight travel as necessary.
