This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
β’ Design and develop resilient, highly dependable software for safety-critical systems utilizing traditional functional safety methodologies alongside emerging deep learning safety approaches.
β’ Collaborate with teams in machine learning, hardware, and core software to ensure that data pipelines, models, and middleware function within specified safety parameters.
β’ Create and enhance software that operates on Linux and real-time operating systems.
β’ Establish comprehensive testing frameworks and validation methodologies to demonstrate system reliability and safety in edge-case situations.
β’ Mentor and guide junior engineers on standards and best practices for safety-critical coding.
β’ Implement a functionally safe perception system that integrates advanced technology with functional safety concepts.
β’ Design, develop, and validate software architecture for safety-critical applications.
β’ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related discipline.
β’ Over 5 years of professional experience in software engineering, particularly in systems-level or embedded systems programming.
β’ Expertise in C++, C, or Rust programming languages.
β’ Deep understanding of software architecture specific to embedded systems.
β’ Experience working with Linux and real-time operating systems.
β’ Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and a strong commitment to quality and reliability.
β’ Valid authorization to work in the United States.
β’ Preferred: experience with alpha hardware and board bring-up.
β’ Preferred: familiarity with camera and LiDAR sensors.
β’ Preferred: formal certification in safety-critical code.
β’ Preferred: knowledge of ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or ISO 13849 standards.
β’ Preferred: experience in architecting and developing robotic applications using ROS 2.
β’ Preferred: experience with machine learning pipelines, including data collection, dataset curation, and model training.
β’ Preferred: skills in Linux kernel configuration, module development, or customization.
β’ Preferred: experience with QNX or similar RTOS and CI/CD integration.
