Senior Risk Analyst, Payments Risk Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the point of escalation for intricate, high-stakes risk situations concerning deposits, withdrawals, trading, and other flagged activities.

• Make definitive judgments on substantial losses, suspected fraudulent activities, and notable accounts based on solid evidence.

• Spearhead responses to new fraud trends from initial detection through to root cause analysis, loss evaluation, and corrective actions.

• Maintain an expert-level understanding of review processes, standard operating procedures, and risk management as products and threats evolve.

• Assess the performance of rules and models in collaboration with Risk Modeling and Analytics.

• Adjust controls to lower losses while reducing customer friction.

• Present insights and recommendations to Risk leadership as well as partners in Product, Engineering, and Customer Support.

• Mentor analysts to enhance accuracy and consistency in their work.

• Utilize Coinbase AI tools to expedite investigations while upholding evidentiary standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in payments risk, fraud operations, or fraud investigations, including acting as an escalation point for intricate cases with decision-making capabilities.

• Extensive knowledge of ACH, cards, wires, and crypto payment systems, with a focus on areas vulnerable to fraud.

• Demonstrated success in enhancing risk controls, rules, or models based on findings from investigations.

• Strong proficiency in SQL.

• Practical experience in tracing funds on-chain using blockchain analytics tools.

• Experience in reviewing analyst decisions for quality and compliance with standard operating procedures.

• Capability to convey complex risk decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Responsible use of generative AI with appropriate human oversight.

• Must possess eligibility to work in the United States.
