Senior React Native Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Oversee the engineering of iOS and Android mobile applications from development stages to app store distribution.

• Design tactile and gesture-driven interactions, including mystery pack tears, loot-box carousel reveals, card flips, and real-time drop tickers utilizing TypeScript, React Native Reanimated, Gesture Handler, and Skia.

• Detect and resolve thread bottlenecks, dropped frames, sluggish view hierarchies, and memory leaks on both iOS and Android platforms.

• Construct robust mobile query pipelines using GraphQL and TanStack Query, featuring optimistic cache updates, pagination, handling network dropouts, and reconnection reconciliation during live unboxings.

• Oversee the entire deployment workflow for Apple App Store and Google Play, which includes TestFlight, provisioning profiles, navigating store reviews, testing tracks, ensuring policy compliance, Expo EAS, fastlane, Sentry, and over-the-air updates.

• Utilize React Native New Architecture capabilities, such as Fabric and TurboModules.

• Create custom native modules or haptics to address performance limitations caused by JavaScript bridges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven production experience in building and maintaining cross-platform mobile applications using React Native and TypeScript, with direct contributions to apps published on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

• Extensive hands-on production experience with React Native Reanimated (worklets, shared values) and Gesture Handler.

• Experience with Shopify React Native Skia or custom canvas shaders is a significant advantage.

• Proficiency in profiling real devices utilizing Xcode Instruments, Android Studio Profiler, and React Native DevTools to identify UI/JS thread contention and excessive memory usage.

• Expert knowledge of GraphQL and TanStack Query (React Query) for managing client caching, race conditions, mutations, and handling offline/reconnection states on unstable mobile networks.

• Practical experience in managing builds and submissions via Apple App Store Connect and the Google Play Console.

• Familiarity with configuring crash monitoring using Sentry and implementing over-the-air (OTA) updates.

• A focused individual contributor who is comfortable writing production code, optimizing performance, and delivering releases within a compact engineering team without the need for people management.

🏝️ Benefits

• Direct IC Ownership: A purely technical focus with complete autonomy over code quality, implementation specifics, and tooling selections, working closely with technical leadership.

• High-Growth Ecosystem: The financial backing and operational reliability of an established 2024 parent company combined with the opportunity to launch a new native mobile application.

• 100% Remote: A flexible, asynchronous work environment that emphasizes shipped features and seamless mobile experiences.
