
Senior Quantity Surveyor – Estimator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Examine architectural drawings, specifications, schedules, and tender documentation.
• Conduct comprehensive quantity take-offs for both residential and commercial construction projects.
• Create estimates for labor, materials, subcontractors, and preliminary costs.
• Formulate scopes of work, pricing schedules, quotes, and tender submissions.
• Identify ambiguous tender details and submit requests for clarification.
• Estimate project timelines, construction phases, and sequencing requirements.
• Coordinate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors while maintaining quotation records.
• Support procurement activities, including pricing, availability, lead times, and product compliance.
• Prepare, price, and document project variations while keeping variation registers updated.
• Monitor actual costs against estimates, budgets, and approved variations.
• Conduct back costing and identify cost overruns, margin risks, and variances.
• Update cost reports, forecasts, and final-cost documentation.
• Communicate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, site personnel, and internal team members.
• Assist in project planning, timelines, procurement milestones, and pending actions.
• Provide general construction and project administration, including maintaining records, spreadsheets, registers, schedules, document control, and correspondence.
• Utilize and maintain estimating, project management, job costing, scheduling, and document management systems.
• Proven experience in the New Zealand construction industry.
• Practical knowledge of New Zealand construction methods, terminology, documentation, and pricing.
• Experience in both residential and commercial construction projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in quantity surveying, estimating, or construction cost management.
• Capability to carry out precise quantity take-offs from architectural and construction drawings.
• Experience in preparing detailed quotations and complete tender submissions.
• Ability to develop practical project schedules alongside quotations.
• Experience in obtaining and comparing pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Strong grasp of variations, project cost tracking, and back costing.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders, projects, and variations concurrently.
• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Practical experience with CostX or similar estimating software.
• Strong command of professional English with the ability to communicate clearly with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal staff.
• High level of numerical accuracy, commercial awareness, and attention to detail.
• Capacity to work independently, meet deadlines, and follow tasks through to completion.
• Willingness to undertake general administrative tasks when the core workload is lighter.
• Availability to work 30–40 hours per week during New Zealand business hours.
• A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Equivalent practical experience in the New Zealand construction sector may be considered.
• Highly desirable: experience estimating high-end architectural residential projects; commercial construction, retail or hospitality fit-outs; managing projects from tender through completion; familiarity with New Zealand building products, suppliers, and subcontractor markets; experience with procurement schedules, project forecasting, and final accounts; basic project management or construction coordination; prior remote work for a New Zealand construction firm.
