Senior QA Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Promote a quality-centric mindset within the agile development team throughout the software development life cycle.

• Clarify feature requirements and system architecture during the refinement process.

• Challenge assumptions, identify edge cases, enhance testability, and create initial test strategies.

• Develop formal test strategies that encompass scenarios, integration points, test data, and verification of results.

• Implement and configure updates in the QA environment.

• Execute test cases, detect and investigate bugs, and document clear reproduction steps.

• Validate complete solutions and provide sign-off for production deployment.

• Lead automation efforts for both new and existing features.

• Collaborate with the QE Lead to maintain test suites, serving as the automation subject matter expert for the team.

• Advocate for quality and ensure functionality through thorough testing.

• Integrate tools and processes, familiarize with team and business operations, engage in career planning, and provide feedback.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–8+ years of experience as a QA tester in an Agile software development setting.

• Proven experience in developing test strategies and crafting test cases.

• Extensive testing of back-end systems utilizing REST, SQS, databases, and front-end interfaces.

• Proficient SQL skills.

• Familiarity with relational database tools such as DBeaver, SQL Server, or MySQL Workbench.

• Experience with Git or comparable version control systems.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Practical experience with tools like Swagger, Bruno, and Postman.

• Experience in writing and updating JavaScript scripts.

• Expertise in exploratory testing methodologies.

• Strong abilities in multitasking and re-prioritizing tasks.

• Competent troubleshooting and bug reporting skills.

• Ability to positively impact software quality beyond the immediate team.

• Knowledge in database test-data seeding, AWS EKS/RDS/SQS/API Gateway, and configuring mocks is advantageous.
