Senior Python Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Assume complete responsibility for the core Django service that connects algorithmic models and internal teams.

• Design APIs, model data, establish cross-team data contracts, and ensure high performance at scale.

• Develop, deploy, and manage high-load Django and Django REST Framework applications on PostgreSQL.

• Maintain clean data modeling, strong API design, and schema consistency across various domains.

• Evaluate PostgreSQL query execution plans, create indexes, and optimize performance, including TimescaleDB time-series and PostGIS spatial queries.

• Implement enterprise-level authentication solutions such as OAuth/OIDC, federated SSO, token validation, and identity provider integrations.

• Architect and develop the partner and operator Wagtail CMS from the ground up, including page models, structured content, media workflows, and the authoring interface.

• Productionize research models as microservices with strict data contracts, model versioning, reliable REST endpoints, and comprehensive observability.

• Conduct code reviews and establish foundational architecture patterns.

• Mentor a junior Python engineer.

• Report to the Engineering Manager as a member of the Algo Development team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 7 years of commercial software engineering experience, primarily focusing on Python and operating production-grade services (excluding internal tools, scripts, or prototype notebooks; candidates for staff positions are expected to have a more extensive track record).

• Significant production experience with Django and Django REST Framework (DRF), including deploying, scaling, and troubleshooting complex services (managing high-traffic ORM N+1 queries, transaction boundaries, migrations under load, and custom querysets).
