Senior Project Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assume overall responsibility for safety, scope, schedule, cost, and quality across a range of intricate renewable energy projects.

• Act as the main point of contact with internal stakeholders, utilities, system operators, regulatory bodies, equipment suppliers, and EPC contractors.

• Lead the preparation and senior review of CAPEX and OPEX cost estimates for solar and BESS projects.

• Oversee project schedules, budgets, cash flow models, and reporting packages for multiple simultaneous projects.

• Drive EPC contractor RFPs, assess proposals, and spearhead contract negotiations until final commercial terms are agreed upon.

• Manage complex, multi-site energy storage and solar projects within established budgets and timelines.

• Lead strategic sourcing and the complete RFP/RFQ cycles for engineering services, equipment, materials, and construction contracts.

• Chair weekly project meetings, maintain action registers, prepare minutes, manage RFIs, track issues, and document lessons learned.

• Develop and sustain integrated project schedules while communicating any schedule risks.

• Oversee change management, including modifications to scope and approvals of contractor invoices.

• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including leadership, utilities, AHJs, professional services, EPC contractors, and equipment suppliers.

• Directly manage at least one full-time, site-based construction manager or construction engineer for each project.

• Facilitate project handoff with operations and asset management upon completion.

• Monitor construction quality against plans, specifications, QA/QC requirements, codes, contracts, and best construction practices.

• Ensure safety and environmental compliance for personnel and subcontractors.

• Verify that personnel and subcontractors fulfill technical and safety training requirements.

• Report on schedule, budget, and risk status to senior management.

• Mentor and provide daily guidance to junior Project Managers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong preference for candidates with experience in Solar PV and/or BESS; a robust utility-scale wind background will also be considered.

• Utility-scale projects are defined as those with capacities of 100 MW or greater.

• An engineering background is highly preferred.

• 8–10 years of project management experience within the energy sector is required.

• Direct experience delivering utility-scale solar PV and/or BESS projects; significant utility-scale wind experience is also considered.

• Proven experience leading approximately six utility-scale projects from construction to completion.

• A track record of delivering projects with total installed costs exceeding $200M, on schedule and within budget.

• Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent project scheduling software.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft 365, including Project, SharePoint, Teams, and Excel.

• Strong commercial acumen, which includes negotiation of EPC and procurement contracts as well as contractor performance management.

• Capacity to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced development environment.

• Ability to cultivate effective working relationships across accounting, finance, legal, commercial, and operations/asset management.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills are essential.

• Experience in preparing executive-level reports.

• Experience in developing and maintaining project KPIs, operational metrics, and management dashboards.

• Safety certification such as OSHA 30 or equivalent is required/preferred as indicated in the posting.

• PMP certification is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Willingness to travel to project sites approximately every other week, typically for 2–4 days per trip.
