Senior Product Manager, Perception & World Understanding Skills

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead the strategy and development of product capabilities related to Digit's perception and learned functionalities.

• Take ownership of the roadmap for perception and world understanding capabilities.

• Convert customer workflows and application needs into specifications for perception, scene comprehension, object recognition, learned behaviors, adaptation, motion planning, and AI-powered robotic abilities.

• Establish product-level metrics and evaluation standards, encompassing accuracy, robustness, generalization, latency, failure behavior, and operational efficiency.

• Oversee the transition of capabilities from research or prototype phases to validation, productization, and eventual production rollout.

• Transform product capability requirements into specifications for models, datasets, training systems, tools, and infrastructure.

• Determine when capabilities should progress from specific task implementations to reusable models and behaviors.

• Collaborate with teams in robotics, perception, machine learning, autonomy, simulation, systems engineering, and field operations.

• Create representative evaluation environments, test scenarios, datasets, and benchmarks.

• Coordinate roadmap dependencies across task skills, robotic software, hardware, simulation, infrastructure, customer applications, and deployment systems.

• Influence Agility’s long-term strategy for robotic intelligence.

• Articulate product priorities, technical trade-offs, capability maturity, and roadmap decisions to engineering leaders, executives, commercial teams, and stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• 5+ years of experience in Product Management or equivalent product leadership roles in robotics, autonomous systems, AI/ML, computer vision, or other highly technical product domains.

• A solid understanding of machine learning, perception, robotics, autonomous systems, or related technical fields.

• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with highly technical engineering and research teams.

• Experience in transforming vague customer or product issues into quantifiable technical capability requirements.

• Strong comprehension of the differences between technology performance and readiness for production products.

• Background in defining metrics, benchmarks, or evaluation frameworks for intricate technical products.

• Capability to assess technical trade-offs and convey their implications for products to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to operate across various teams and influence without direct authority.

• Strong strategic thinking coupled with a readiness to engage thoroughly in product execution.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience with computer vision, foundation models, reinforcement learning, imitation learning, learned policies, or multimodal AI systems.

• Familiarity with manipulation or mobile robotics.

• Experience in taking machine learning or robotics capabilities from research to production deployment.

• Knowledge of simulation, synthetic data, evaluation infrastructure, or large-scale robotics datasets.

• Experience in developing products that function reliably amidst significant real-world variability.

• Background in warehouses, logistics, manufacturing, or other industrial settings.

• Experience with humanoid robots or mobile manipulation systems.

• An advanced degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field is preferred.
