Senior Product Manager, Billing Engine – Platforms Monetization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take charge of product strategy for metering, aggregation, and rating within GitLab's usage billing pipeline.

• Oversee the integration of Zuora and CustomersDot that converts usage into billed revenue.

• Streamline the onboarding process for new credit-consuming features to ensure repeatability.

• Collaborate with product teams on instrumentation, usage metering, pricing, and ensuring billability on launch day across GitLab.com, self-managed, and GitLab Dedicated.

• Focus on enhancing pipeline scalability, performance, and reliability while enabling new capabilities.

• Manage the detection and correction of billing defects before they affect customer invoices.

• Assist the Monetization Platform and Infrastructure team by defining challenges and prioritizing platform investments in relation to operational risk.

• Establish and monitor metrics for billing accuracy, pipeline reliability, cost to serve, and time to monetize.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in directing product strategy for consumption- or usage-based billing systems.

• Familiarity with Zuora or a similar billing and revenue management platform.

• Knowledge of the interaction between product and finance systems.

• Experience with pricing models that involve prepaid, commitment, or credit-drawdown, including balances, reservations, overage, and expiration.

• Background in launching new products or pricing strategies while coordinating with engineering, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and go-to-market teams.

• Capability to unify teams that are not directly supervised.

• Experience in defining challenges for platform or backend teams.

• Excellent written communication skills in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.

• Proficiency in using issues, epics, and direction pages to lead effectively.

• Familiarity with developer tools, financial audits, or revenue recognition is advantageous but not essential.

• Experience utilizing AI tools for prototyping, analysis, specification writing, and investigation.
