This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Assist in managing media relations for the Aeronautics Systems sector.
• Report directly to the media relations manager for the sector.
• Work collaboratively with media and public relations professionals throughout the organization on strategic proactive and reactive media initiatives.
• Conduct interviews, pitches, events, and activities related to news products and digital presence.
• Guide, prepare, and position company-wide subject matter experts for media interviews and engagements.
• Compile and share regular reports and metrics on integrated communications efforts.
• Utilize results and metrics to refine strategies and approaches that yield measurable communications and business outcomes.
• Keep track of industry news and highlight activities, issues, and trends.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with journalists who cover the aerospace and defense sector.
• Organize press events and site visits.
• Assist in promoting company thought leadership in key focus areas.
• Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of experience OR Master's degree with 6 years of experience in a medium to large-sized communications organization, public affairs office, public relations firm, or media company.
• Proven experience working with media or interacting with media professionals covering the aerospace and defense industry or other highly technical fields.
• Familiarity with media monitoring and metrics applications.
• Demonstrated expertise in the development, deployment, and execution of strategic media and communication campaigns that have measurable business impact.
• Capability to create pitches and prepare subject matter experts for media interactions.
• Ability to identify and utilize news cycles to promote company thought leadership in priority focus areas.
• Experience in organizing press events and site visits.
• Background in media training and message crafting.
• Strong AP writing and editing skills.
• Proficient in drafting news releases, news features, and long-form articles for owned channels.
• Ability to confidently and independently engage with executive leadership.
• Strategic thinking, planning, and decision-making skills.
• High attention to detail and creativity.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Preferred: experience in a large, matrixed, and/or geographically dispersed organization; U.S. Government experience; established relationships with aerospace and defense journalists; experience in technology, aerospace, defense, or other science-related business or government fields; proven capability to drive change through innovative methods, ideas, and strategies.
• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory for all roles requiring government clearance and certain other restricted positions.
