This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Spearhead IonQ's international media strategy and external storytelling.
• Proactively engage with global business, financial, broadcast, deep-tech, and scientific media outlets.
• Manage daily operations and performance outcomes of external agencies.
• Act as a communication partner for executives, scientists, and engineers.
• Create briefing materials and provide comprehensive media training for spokespersons.
• Position subject matter experts for commentary, features, and significant industry events.
• Simplify intricate concepts of quantum computing, networking, sensing, and security into coherent narratives.
• Compose and refine press releases, pitch decks, media alerts, executive biographies, FAQs, and messaging playbooks.
• Maintain a central repository for media messaging and talking points.
• Collaborate with Investor Relations, Legal, Compliance, Government Affairs, and People teams.
• Assist in developing crisis playbooks, updating protocols, and crafting reactive messaging.
• Monitor brand sentiment, share of voice, and competitor narratives.
• Keep track of industry trends, technology policies, and market shifts.
• Manage media lists, editorial calendars, press kits, and collaboration tools.
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or a related scientific/technical discipline (e.g., Physics, Engineering).
• 8+ years of experience in media relations or corporate communications.
• 4+ years specifically within a deep-tech, scientific, or highly technical sector.
• Proven track record of securing significant earned media placements in top-tier financial and tech/trade publications.
• Outstanding ability to write quickly, accurately, and clearly under tight deadlines.
• Extensive experience in media-training C-suite executives and PhD-level subject matter experts.
• Demonstrated capability to utilize technology, including AI-powered tools for drafting, monitoring, and sentiment analysis.
• Employment contingent upon satisfying U.S. export-control and government-contract requirements, including U.S. Person status or relevant authorization/license for access to export-controlled technology.
• Preferred: experience with late-stage, high-growth tech startups or publicly traded deep-tech firms.
• Preferred: knowledge of financial media relations and regulatory compliance, including SEC guidelines/Reg FD.
• Preferred: familiarity with Cision, Muck Rack, Meltwater, or Brandwatch.
