Senior Principal, Enterprise Architect – Business Architecture

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Oversees the design and implementation of business architecture across various portfolios, product teams, and lead architects.

• Enhances the speed of decision-making and the quality of investments by leveraging domain knowledge, architectural guidance, and the dissemination of standards and reusable frameworks.

• Establishes and maintains the connective framework that links customer and associate journeys, value streams, business capabilities, and comprehensive processes to solutions, applications, and data.

• Collaborates with principal architects, product managers, and business stakeholders to promote a common language, model literacy, and the adoption of enterprise-wide standards.

• Engages with third-party vendors to assess capability coverage, pinpoint investment redundancies, and enhance interoperability and data-sharing compatibility.

• Supports 4–6 portfolios or capability areas.

• Facilitates portfolio-level Principal meetings to ensure alignment, consistency, and knowledge exchange.

• Develops reusable foundational code elements and prototypes using emerging technologies.

• Monitors cloud-resource utilization and identifies opportunities for cost optimization.

• Serves as an escalation point for intricate issues, high-priority challenges, and system outages.

• Represents the company at conferences, adopting new technologies and concepts.

• Provides leadership, mentorship, and coaching to direct reports.

• Conducts annual and mid-year performance reviews and offers constructive feedback.

• Attracts, retains, nurtures, and motivates talent.

• Collaborates with a Distinguished Engineer to define technology solutions and influence technology roadmaps.

• Eliminates obstacles across extensive cross-functional projects while promoting thought leadership and innovation.

• Addresses inquiries from project, product, and support teams.

• Resolves technology conflicts among local teams.

• Works with vendors to implement enhancements to software features.

• Advocates for the effective use of tools and technology.

• Typically requires 5% to 20% overnight travel.

• Reports to various stakeholders and manages 4–6 direct reports.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be at least eighteen years of age.

• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Proficiency in at least two technologies utilized by THD IT.

• Familiarity with common business processes in the retail sector.

• Experience in Agile/Lean development methodologies.

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a field pertinent to the position.

• Strong expertise in business architecture disciplines including capability modeling, value stream mapping, journey mapping, and end-to-end process decomposition.

• Understanding of the relationship between business architecture, application, and data architecture.

• Ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority across business, product, and engineering leadership.

• Experience with enterprise architecture and process tools, such as LeanIX and Signavio.

• Comfortable working with underlying data via APIs, queries, or automation.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Experience assessing vendor and SaaS solutions against enterprise capability and integration standards.

• One area of expertise must include a programming language.

• Capable of quickly grasping complex systems.

• Mastery in designated domains.

• Active involvement in or leadership of professional groups related to specific domains.
