Senior Power BI Technical Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and implement Power BI reports, dashboards, and enterprise reporting solutions that convert complex data into actionable insights for business.

• Construct and tailor scalable semantic models that facilitate consistent metrics, precise analysis, and self-service reporting capabilities.

• Convert business and functional requirements into productive technical designs, data models, calculations, and user-friendly reporting experiences.

• Create and execute modern analytics solutions utilizing Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Dataflows, Azure Synapse, and associated Microsoft data services.

• Develop reporting solutions that integrate Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Dynamics 365 Project Operations, Dataverse, and other enterprise data sources.

• Generate advanced calculations, data transformations, and reporting logic using DAX, SQL, and Power Query M.

• Lead sessions for gathering requirements and work collaboratively with business stakeholders, functional consultants, and technical teams throughout the project lifecycle.

• Assist with user acceptance testing, deployment validation, go-live readiness, knowledge transfer, and activities following go-live.

• Create paginated and operational reporting solutions for financial, billing, project, accounts receivable, and general ledger reporting requirements.

• Establish and advocate for best practices in report development, semantic modeling, documentation, quality assurance, performance, and maintainability.

• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to fellow consultants.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in developing Microsoft Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models within enterprise settings.

• Advanced proficiency in DAX, SQL, Power Query M, data modeling, and data transformation principles.

• Experience in gathering business requirements and converting them into technical reporting and analytics solutions.

• Background in supporting solutions throughout the project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, development, testing, user acceptance testing, deployment, and go-live.

• Proven experience working directly with clients and collaborating with both business and technical stakeholders.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric features such as OneLake, Dataflows, or Fabric semantic models.

• Knowledge of Azure Synapse, data warehousing, ETL processes, or modern analytics architecture.

• Experience integrating Power BI with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Dynamics 365 Project Operations, Dataverse, or similar enterprise applications.

• Experience with paginated reports or SSRS is preferred.

• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, Git, and contemporary development or deployment practices is preferred.

• Experience in financial, project, billing, accounts receivable, or general ledger reporting is an advantage.

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
