Senior Platform Engineer, .NET, Docker

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Extract the .NET backend from desktop dependencies.

• Containerize the backend using Docker and ensure services run in a headless manner.

• Create the on-prem server product from its initial commit.

• Establish CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, and publishing images.

• Develop flows for installation, upgrades, rollbacks, configuration, licensing, and secrets management for on-prem deployments.

• Assume responsibility for authentication tasks.

• Construct MCP servers and agent skills to support platform operations.

• Generate deployment documentation for AI agents.

• Propel work towards a completed, deployed state and identify blockers early.

• Contribute to the expansion of a small senior Platform team.

• Develop observability and telemetry for deployed instances.

• Advance towards a cloud-native infrastructure that supports a SaaS solution.

• Report to Ben and collaborate with Sven, the wider engineering organization, and the Chaotic Chimeras team initially.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building backend software using C#/.NET.

• Proven track record of decoupling backend logic from user interfaces or desktop layers.

• Expertise in extracting services, eliminating hard dependencies, and enabling code to run headless and under testing conditions.

• Production experience with Docker, including multi-stage builds, Linux images, and managing image sizes.

• Proven experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

• Background in packaging software for vendor-uncontrolled environments, including on-prem or customer-hosted installations, upgrades, configurations, and secrets management.

• Daily use of AI tools and a keen interest in developing platform tooling for agents.

• Ability to work independently and drive projects to a completed, deployed state.

• Professional working proficiency in English.

• Residency in Germany or a willingness to relocate to Germany.
