Senior Platform Engineer – GitHub Migration Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Spearhead impactful strategic consulting and comprehensive product development throughout the lifecycle.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance infrastructure and facilitate intricate cloud-native migrations.

• Transition repositories, user accounts, and access controls to a secured GitHub Enterprise Cloud instance featuring Enterprise Managed Users and Data Residency.

• Create a governed EMU environment with centralized Identity and Access Management.

• Utilize GitHub Enterprise Importer to migrate repositories and workflows while maintaining Git history, branch protections, and metadata.

• Shift from individual repository permissions to scalable, team-based access synchronized with the identity provider.

• Confirm integrations and dependent toolchains prior to cutover to guarantee operational continuity.

• Provide a fully documented and governed environment upon handoff.

• Design and sustain robust infrastructure platforms that facilitate efficient software delivery.

• Standardize platform tooling across various environments.

• Develop and support self-service infrastructure and CI/CD capabilities.

• Work in partnership with client IT teams and internal Modus engagement leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience with cloud-native platform migrations, transitioning workloads to modern compute, storage, and authentication solutions.

• Demonstrated expertise in GitHub Enterprise Cloud (GHEC) migrations utilizing GitHub Enterprise Importer (GEI) and managing Enterprise Managed Users (EMU).

• Experience in building and maintaining scalable, reliable platform services.

• Proficient in managing the complete lifecycle of internal developer platforms (IDP).

• Knowledge of Kubernetes, container orchestration, and principles of cloud-native architecture.

• Practical experience with Azure (preferred) and distributed systems, platform APIs, and cloud-native design.

• Skilled in CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, and Jenkins.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and HashiCorp tools.

• Strong automation capabilities in Python, bash, or PowerShell.

• Familiarity with modern delivery practices, including AI-powered SDLC and agentic tooling.

• Exceptional communication and problem-solving abilities.

• Capable of mentoring client teams and working independently with minimal guidance.

• Willingness to overlap with EST business hours on a daily basis.

• Ability to collaborate closely with client IT teams and internal Modus engagement leadership.

• GitHub, Azure, or AWS certifications are advantageous skills.
