Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Create and enhance core software and services for product and development teams.

• Engage with colleagues through code reviews, offering support, mentorship, and a cohesive technical direction.

• Assist feature teams and encourage the adoption of platform functionalities.

• Design, implement, and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.

• Create reusable IaC modules and conduct unit and integration testing.

• Deploy, configure, maintain, monitor, and optimize Kubernetes clusters on GCP GKE and AWS EKS.

• Oversee node groups, network policies, service meshes, cluster upgrades, availability, and fault tolerance.

• Develop and sustain CI/CD systems utilizing tools such as Argo CD or Atlantis.

• Automate build and release processes while enhancing pipeline performance.

• Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and security challenges.

• Develop incident response strategies and conduct post-mortem evaluations.

• Promote automation for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring.

• Collaborate with development teams to grasp infrastructure and developer experience requirements.

• Build internal platform tools, APIs, and services throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Apply security best practices, access control measures, vulnerability management, and data encryption.

• Ensure adherence to SOC 2 and GDPR regulations and perform security audits and penetration tests.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of demonstrated experience in platform engineering, DevOps engineering, or related fields.

• Strong practical expertise with GCP/AWS, Kubernetes (GKE/EKS), and Terraform.

• Proven experience in constructing and managing scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure.

• Solid Software Engineering principles and coding skills in Go or Typescript (or other pertinent languages).

• Experience with data structures, algorithms, and defensive programming techniques.

• Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Argo CD, Atlantis, or similar technologies.

• Comprehensive understanding of CI/CD principles and industry best practices.

• Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols.

• Extensive experience with monitoring and logging solutions like Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.

• Knowledge of security best practices pertinent to cloud environments.

• Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

• Ability to thrive in a remote and distributed team setup.

• Previous experience specifically in platform engineering projects.
