Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance core software and services for product and development teams.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues through code reviews, mentorship, and a cohesive technical vision.

• Assist feature teams and promote the adoption of platform capabilities.

• Architect, design, and implement infrastructure as code utilizing Terraform.

• Create reusable infrastructure modules and conduct unit and integration testing.

• Deploy, configure, maintain, monitor, and optimize Kubernetes clusters on GCP GKE and AWS EKS.

• Oversee node groups, network policies, service meshes, upgrades, high availability, and fault tolerance.

• Develop and sustain CI/CD systems using tools like Argo CD or Atlantis.

• Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and security challenges.

• Develop incident response plans and perform post-mortem analyses.

• Lead the automation of infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, and operational workflows.

• Collaborate with development teams to understand infrastructure and developer experience requirements.

• Create internal platform tools, APIs, and services throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Apply security best practices, manage access control, handle vulnerability management, ensure data encryption, and comply with SOC 2 and GDPR.

• Perform security audits and penetration testing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Solid software engineering principles with a demonstrated hands-on coding background.

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps engineering, or similar roles.

• Robust hands-on experience with GCP/AWS, Kubernetes (GKE/EKS), and Terraform.

• Experience in building and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure.

• Proficiency in coding with Go or TypeScript (or other relevant languages), including knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and defensive programming.

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Argo CD, Atlantis, or comparable technologies.

• Understanding of networking concepts and protocols.

• Extensive experience with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.

• Knowledge of cloud security best practices.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to work productively in a remote and distributed team environment.

• Previous experience working specifically on platform engineering initiatives.
