Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance essential software and services for product and development teams.

• Engage with colleagues through code reviews, mentorship, and a cohesive technical vision.

• Assist feature teams and promote the utilization of platform capabilities.

• Architect, design, implement, test, and oversee Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.

• Deploy, configure, maintain, monitor, and optimize Kubernetes clusters on GCP GKE and AWS EKS.

• Create and uphold CI/CD systems utilizing tools such as Argo CD or Atlantis.

• Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and security challenges.

• Develop incident response strategies and conduct post-mortem evaluations.

• Lead the automation of infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, and operational tasks.

• Collaborate with development teams to grasp infrastructure and developer experience requirements.

• Build internal platform tools, APIs, and services throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Implement security controls, manage vulnerabilities, ensure data encryption, uphold compliance measures, conduct security audits, and perform penetration testing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong foundational knowledge in software engineering with demonstrated hands-on coding experience.

• 6+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps engineering, or related fields.

• Solid hands-on expertise with GCP/AWS, Kubernetes (GKE/EKS), and Terraform.

• Experience in building and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructures.

• Proficiency in coding with Go or TypeScript (or other relevant languages), including knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and defensive programming.

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Argo CD, Atlantis, or similar technologies.

• Understanding of networking principles and protocols.

• Extensive experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.

• Knowledge of best practices in cloud security.

• Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

• Capability to work efficiently in a remote and distributed team setting.

• Prior experience specifically in platform engineering projects.
