Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Estonia, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with engineering colleagues through code reviews, mentorship, and a shared technical vision.

• Assist feature teams in adopting platform functionalities.

• Architect, design, implement, and manage Infrastructure as Code utilizing Terraform.

• Create reusable infrastructure modules and conduct unit and integration testing.

• Deploy, configure, maintain, monitor, and optimize Kubernetes clusters on GCP GKE and AWS EKS.

• Oversee node groups, network policies, service meshes, cluster upgrades, availability, and fault tolerance.

• Develop and sustain CI/CD systems using tools like Argo CD or Atlantis.

• Automate build and release workflows while enhancing pipeline performance.

• Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and security challenges.

• Analyze logs and metrics, contributing to incident response strategies and post-mortem evaluations.

• Propel automation in infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, and operational procedures.

• Collaborate with development teams to grasp infrastructure needs and enhance developer experience.

• Convert developer requirements into platform product features and roadmaps.

• Create internal platform tools, APIs, and services throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Enforce security measures, vulnerability management, data encryption, compliance, security audits, and penetration testing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Solid foundations in software engineering with demonstrated hands-on coding experience.

• Over 6 years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps engineering, or similar positions.

• Strong practical knowledge of GCP/AWS, Kubernetes (GKE/EKS), and Terraform.

• Experience in constructing and maintaining scalable, dependable, and secure cloud infrastructure.

• Proficiency in coding with Go or TypeScript, or other relevant programming languages.

• Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, and defensive programming techniques.

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Argo CD, Atlantis, or comparable technologies.

• Understanding of CI/CD principles and best practices.

• Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols.

• Extensive experience with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.

• Awareness of security best practices pertaining to cloud environments.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to thrive in a remote and distributed team environment.

• Previous experience specifically in platform engineering projects.
