Senior Newsroom Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Generate 3–4 pertinent daily technology news articles and brief editorial pieces.

• Track advancements in technology, AI, fintech, startups, business, policy, and emerging markets.

• Investigate developments and announcements from reputable sources.

• Utilize English and Arabic-language resources to pinpoint relevant developments and supporting details.

• Perform basic fact-checking and source validation prior to publication.

• Transform research and source material into clear, original, and well-crafted English content.

• Highlight developments that require the editorial team's attention.

• Revise stories as new information surfaces.

• Adhere to agreed daily and weekly editorial timelines.

• Monitor pertinent Arabic-language sources.

• Comprehend Arabic announcements, reports, statements, and other source materials.

• Extract relevant information from Arabic sources and accurately incorporate it into English-language articles.

• Assist the newsroom in identifying developments that may receive limited English coverage.

• Cross-verify information between Arabic and English sources.

• Contribute to the company's digital magazine and longer editorial projects.

• Aid in research and writing for features, analyses, and special coverage.

• Develop stories and supplementary material from research supplied by the broader editorial team.

• Support research-driven and intelligence-oriented content.

• Upload and format articles appropriately.

• Maintain editorial calendars and deadlines effectively.

• Assist with basic GEO and content optimization.

• Ensure accuracy and consistency across all published material.

• Provide support for newsletters and additional editorial content as needed.

• 1–3 years of experience in journalism, content creation, media, communications, or a related discipline.

• Exceptional English writing abilities, capable of producing clear, concise, grammatically sound, and publication-ready material.

• Proficient Arabic comprehension and the capacity to interpret Arabic-language source content.

• Strong research and fact-checking expertise.

• Ability to locate relevant information, evaluate sources, and transform research into a coherent news article.

• Capability to write clearly and accurately under tight daily deadlines.

• Meticulous attention to detail.

• Keen interest in technology, AI, startups, fintech, and emerging markets.

• Comfortable working independently while receiving editorial direction and feedback.

• Organized and able to manage multiple content pieces simultaneously.

• Previous experience in a newsroom or technology media environment.

• Background in covering technology, business, startups, or finance.

• Experience utilizing Arabic-language sources for research purposes.

• Familiarity with the MENA technology ecosystem.

• Knowledge of French, especially for engaging with French-language sources pertinent to MENA and North Africa.

• Basic understanding of SEO/GEO principles.

• Experience with CMS platforms.

• Familiarity with AI and emerging technologies.

• Experience contributing to magazines, features, or longer editorial projects.
