Senior Network Engineer – L2

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Act as the subject matter expert and primary escalation point for network technologies.

• Design, deploy, and maintain secure, high-performing, and highly available on-premises, co-hosted, cloud, and wireless network infrastructures.

• Conduct IT project work for various clients.

• Collaborate with clients to comprehend their needs and deliver solutions that align with their business goals.

• Work together with internal teams to execute projects and provide mentorship to junior team members.

• Research and assess new technologies, formulating implementation strategies for new service offerings.

• Offer presales consultation, evaluate client environments, and suggest enhancements or modifications.

• Manage, schedule, research, resolve, route, and escalate service requests as necessary.

• Track billable hours and maintain precise professional documentation in the PSA system.

• Provide remote and on-site troubleshooting while adhering to SLAs, OLAs, and industry best practices.

• Implement security protocols and support compliance with applicable standards such as NIST, GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.

• Develop, test, and uphold disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.

• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and enhance network efficiency and reliability.

• Liaise with external vendors and service providers.

• Document client environments, technical processes, procedures, and solutions; assist in creating guides and training materials.

• Participate in the on-call rotation for emergency support beyond regular business hours.

• Attend team meetings and status updates.

• Uphold Rehmann values and carry out other assigned duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma is mandatory.

• A degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience, is required.

• Relevant vendor certifications such as Fortinet FCP or FCSS, Cisco CCNP or CCNA, and/or Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate are highly desirable.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing robust, scalable, secure, and high-performance networks.

• Extensive experience with firewalls, wireless access points, routers, switches, and network technologies from Fortinet, WatchGuard, Ruckus, and Cisco.

• Preferred in-depth knowledge of Fortinet technologies, including FortiGate, FortiAP, FortiSwitch, FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer.

• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, SD-WAN, ZTNA, DHCP, DNS, routing protocols, and network topologies and architectures.

• Familiarity with Azure cloud networking and software-based networking in VMware and Hyper-V environments.

• Willingness to travel to client locations and work outside of normal business hours; reliable transportation is required.
