Cloud Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and troubleshoot Azure network architectures, including VNETs, peering, user-defined routing, Private Link/Private Endpoints, Virtual WAN, Application Gateway, Azure Load Balancer, Network Security Groups (NSGs), and hybrid connectivity through ExpressRoute and IPSec.

• Manage and resolve issues with FortiGate firewalls in both cloud and on-premise settings.

• Provide support and oversight for Cisco Meraki's cloud-managed networking, encompassing MX security appliances, MS switches, and MR wireless access points.

• Operate and optimize the FortiSASE platform, covering ZTNA, secure web gateway, SPA/SIA tunnels, PoP selection, and identity-aware access policies.

• Design and maintain Kubernetes/OpenShift networking for multi-cluster deployments.

• Set up and troubleshoot Traefik and/or NGINX ingress controllers.

• Oversee Cloudflare WAF, bot management, load balancing, origin pools, DNS zones, and Zero Trust policies.

• Maintain both internal and external DNS, manage certificate lifecycles, and configure FortiADC load balancers.

• Collaborate with application, security, and cloud teams on deployments, incident responses, and root cause analysis.

• Create network diagrams and documentation; implement changes following SOP and change management protocols.

• Configure Datadog for network monitoring and alerting.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in enterprise networking, with at least 4 years dedicated to cloud networking (Azure preferred).

• Practical experience managing FortiGate firewalls in production environments.

• Proven Azure networking expertise (VNETs, NSGs, UDRs, ExpressRoute, Private Link, native load balancing).

• Familiarity with a SASE platform; FortiSASE is strongly preferred.

• Hands-on experience in Kubernetes/OpenShift networking, particularly with CNI behavior, services, and network policies.

• Experience configuring Traefik or NGINX ingress controllers.

• Practical experience with Cloudflare, including WAF, load balancing, and DNS.

• Strong understanding of networking protocols: BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, TLS/PKI, VRRP, RADIUS/TACACS+.

• Ability to script and automate using Python, PowerShell, or Terraform, with experience in Git-based workflows.

• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team, including after-hours support when necessary.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS/CIS, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Reliable high-speed internet is required for remote work, specifically Cable or Fiber connections with the ability to connect via Ethernet.

• Minimum internet speed requirements: 70/30 Mbps (basic), 200-300/35-70 Mbps (shared), 500-1,000/100+ Mbps (heavy usage).
