Senior Mobile Engineer, React Native

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Develop and launch mobile features for production using React Native, Expo, TypeScript, and Expo Router.

• Take ownership of architectural choices related to state management, data retrieval, offline functionality, navigation, and the mobile build/release process.

• Create geospatial experiences with MapLibre, incorporating real-time location tracking and interactive maps.

• Enhance performance and dependability regarding startup time, animations, lists, memory usage, battery life, and crash handling.

• Implement reliable testing protocols using Jest, React Native Testing Library, and Maestro.

• Manage production delivery through EAS, including builds, signing, releases, and ensuring app store readiness.

• Contribute to backend APIs as necessary.

• Set engineering standards as the team expands.

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to speed up delivery while maintaining quality.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of professional experience in software engineering.

• At least two production React Native applications with active users.

• Strong proficiency in React Native, TypeScript, and Expo.

• Familiarity with the New Architecture, including Fabric, TurboModules, and Bridgeless.

• Experience in mobile performance, testing, observability, and production releases.

• Practical knowledge of MapLibre, Mapbox, Google Maps, or similar mobile mapping technologies.

• Proven track record of owning architectural or significant technical decisions.

• Strong engineering judgment and effective problem-solving skills.

• Capability to work independently within a small team environment.

• A university-level technical degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline.

• Eligibility to work in Germany.

• Eligible for EU/NATO security clearance where applicable.
