Senior Mechanical Designer 2 – Nuclear Power

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate under the guidance of the Mechanical Project Lead alongside multi-disciplinary engineering and design project teams.

• Create mechanical physical layout drawings utilizing a 3-D model.

• Design mechanical systems while investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving mechanical design challenges.

• Employ 3D modeling software tools to produce mechanical design schematics.

• Serve as the Mechanical design team lead, coordinating detailed design phases for an integrated mechanical design model.

• Oversee and direct other designers and project team members to ensure comprehensive and timely design delivery.

• Independently organize and execute design deliverables, including general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping composites, pipe support drawings, and equipment location drawings.

• Perform field walkdowns and collect data at client facilities as necessary.

• Mentor junior drafters and designers.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma combined with 1 or more years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.

• A minimum of ten years of detailed physical design experience in creating mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and supports.

• Proficiency in design software tools to execute 3D plant layout models effectively.

• Experience in reviewing mechanical equipment, including outlines and interface points, as well as coordinating and developing related deliverables.

• Ability to collaborate with engineering and design teams from other disciplines within the power plant design process.

• U.S. work authorization is required; Sargent & Lundy does not provide work authorization sponsorship for employees.

• Proficiency in MicroStation is preferred but not mandatory.
