Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – SolidWorks Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Create comprehensive, practical, and highly manufacturable 3D models and equipment layouts based on engineering specifications, site data, sketches, and preliminary concepts.

• Design intricate, large-scale assemblies, heavy weldments, structural frameworks, sheet metal components, and pipework/equipment integrations.

• Ensure appropriate clearance, interference checks, and mating strategies are implemented.

• Generate detailed fabrication and manufacturing drawing packages, which include General Arrangement drawings, Bills of Materials, cut lists, geometric tolerances, and revision controls.

• Consider factors such as high loads, severe vibrations, fatigue, impact, corrosion, exposure to dust/water, lifting, handling, and maintainability.

• Develop support frames, equipment mountings, access platforms, skids, sumps, brackets, safety guards, and structural modifications for bulk materials handling and mineral processing infrastructure.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to refine concepts, adhere to manufacturing and installation constraints, and enhance efficiency and safety.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5 to 10+ years of professional mechanical design experience specifically in heavy industrial sectors (e.g., mining, mineral processing, bulk materials handling, power generation, oil & gas, or heavy manufacturing).

• Proven expertise in advanced SolidWorks workflows, including parametric modeling, configuration design tables, robust weldment structures, sheet metal design, design libraries, and effective large-assembly management.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Extensive, practical knowledge of how heavy equipment and steel structures are fabricated, welded, machined, bolted, and installed in real-world field environments.

• Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills suitable for direct collaboration with international engineering teams.

• Experience with SolidWorks Simulation for structural analysis of fabricated steel structures, frames, brackets, and equipment supports (preferred, not mandatory).

• Familiarity with Australian Standards (AS) or previous experience working with Australian engineering firms (preferred, not mandatory).

• Background in designing equipment intended for operation in or around conveyors, pumps, pressure vessels, mobile machinery, or processing plants (preferred, not mandatory).
