Senior Manager, Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and expand a team of approximately 16 engineers within the organization.

• Establish technical direction and management practices to ensure reliable and high-quality software delivery.

• Spearhead AI-native development initiatives that encompass agentic workflows, LLM-powered services, and AI-assisted engineering methodologies.

• Directly oversee four AI-focused pods responsible for delivering features and achieving outcomes.

• Take ownership of execution, delivery, quality, and velocity across the four pods.

• Manage inter-pod dependencies, sequencing, bottlenecks, and potential delivery risks.

• Engage in and facilitate architecture reviews across the React.js/TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, PostgreSQL, and Redshift technology stack.

• Ensure that architecture adheres to principles of scalability, reliability, security, maintainability, and HIPAA/SOC 2 compliance.

• Maintain team focus on member and business outcomes.

• Promote practical AI adoption throughout engineering and product development.

• Enhance code quality, testing, observability, incident response, and CI/CD practices.

• Mentor engineers and tech leads to cultivate technical leadership.

• Collaborate effectively with engineering, product, design, and leadership teams.

• Translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and vice versa.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering.

• More than 5 years of experience managing engineering teams.

• Proven track record leading teams of over 10 engineers.

• Strong hands-on experience in AI-native development, particularly with agentic systems, LLM integrations, or AI-first architectures.

• Demonstrated success in applying AI to engineering workflows and product features.

• Experience in managing multiple engineering teams concurrently.

• Proven ability to manage cross-team dependencies and risks in a multi-pod environment.

• Familiarity with Agile/Lean methodologies, including Scrum/Kanban, Jira, and Confluence.

• History of setting technical direction and making architectural decisions for scalable, full-stack web applications.

• Extensive knowledge of React.js, TypeScript, Node.js, JavaScript, AWS, PostgreSQL, and Redshift.

• Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, RDS, SQS, and DynamoDB.

• Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes and basic understanding of GraphQL and RESTful API design.

• Outcome/value-driven mindset linked to business impact.

• Skills in mentorship and coaching.

• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

• Experience in regulated environments, with an awareness of HIPAA/SOC 2 and audit-friendly change management, is a plus.

• Preference for candidates with startup or high-growth environment experience.
