Senior Manager, Platform Continuity

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead, develop, and retain a distributed team of senior and staff-level Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) across the US, Ireland, and Spain time zones.

• Own the process of Operational Intake & Acceptance.

• Drive automation and shift-left initiatives in collaboration with the Cloud Platform Tools team.

• Manage the hygiene of Infrastructure as Code (IaC)/Terraform workspaces, VDI/end-user computing, monitoring and alerting maintenance, cloud cost management and rightsizing, as well as SRE-tier client and application support.

• Establish and monitor metrics for reducing Keep the Lights On (KTLO) percentages.

• Build and maintain a playbook library that is reproducible, auditable, and automatable.

• Define and enforce criteria for operational intake while safeguarding the team from misrouted tickets.

• Collaborate with leadership from Cloud Platform Infrastructure, Services, eSRE, and Tools on ownership boundaries and cross-functional work.

• Act as the operational escalation point for platform-layer issues, such as production access, SSL certificate management, and system-state remediation.

• Datavant offers a data collaboration platform for healthcare organizations, encompassing providers, health plans, researchers, and life sciences companies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of engineering management experience, with a focus on managing distributed or international teams across multiple time zones.

• Strong technical background in cloud infrastructure operations.

• Proficient knowledge of Terraform/IaC, including infrastructure state, module versioning, and maintaining workspace hygiene at scale.

• Solid operational knowledge of Kubernetes (EKS and/or AKS), covering cluster health, workload troubleshooting, and node management.

• Required experience with AWS; Azure experience is a significant advantage.

• Hands-on experience with observability platforms, preferably Datadog.

• Ability to create runbooks, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), intake processes, escalation paths, and shift-left frameworks.

• Excellent communication skills for defining scope boundaries and managing expectations across teams.

• Comfortable with ambiguity within a newly formed team.
