This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Lead, mentor, manage performance, and foster the growth of the Instructional Design team.
• Supervise the design and development of learning solutions from initial discovery to final implementation.
• Oversee workload, priorities, timelines, risks, deliverables, instructional effectiveness, learner experience, accessibility, accuracy, and alignment with brand standards.
• Convert Learning Design strategy into team priorities, standards, operating procedures, and development expectations.
• Identify and implement responsible uses of AI in learning design, development, evaluation, and enhancing learner experiences.
• Create scalable AI workflows, tools, resources, and standards.
• Promote the use of simulations, scenario-based learning, practical experiences, gamification, rapid development techniques, interactive solutions, and learning that is integrated into the workflow.
• Design and oversee structured pilot projects and proofs of concept, including hypotheses, success metrics, timelines, stakeholder expectations, and evaluation strategies.
• Expand successful innovations into reusable tools, templates, standards, playbooks, training materials, and implementation guidance.
• Assess emerging authoring methods, tools, and platform capabilities in collaboration with Learning Technology and internal teams.
• Develop and sustain reusable design resources, templates, frameworks, quality standards, and development guidance.
• Evaluate the impact of learning design and innovation using project data, learner feedback, quality metrics, adoption rates, and business inputs.
• Collaborate with Learning Technology, Learning Optimization and Continuous Improvement, Leadership Development, Learning Experience, HR, and various business stakeholders.
• Provide guidance to stakeholders on complex or high-visibility initiatives, performance requirements, learning strategies, solution direction, and measurable outcomes.
• A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Equivalent experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or learning innovation may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
• Over 7 years of experience in learning and development, instructional design, learning experience design, or a related discipline.
• More than 3 years of experience leading, coaching, or directly managing learning professionals.
• Extensive experience in spearheading medium- to large-scale learning initiatives from discovery through implementation.
• Proficient in applying adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, performance consulting, and learner-centered design practices.
• Experience in exploring or implementing AI-enabled learning solutions, emerging learning technologies, or development efficiencies.
• Familiarity with simulations, scenario-based learning, gamification, rapid development, interactive learning, or other innovative educational strategies.
• Capability to transition ideas from concept through pilot testing, evaluation, recommendation, and scalable implementation.
• Strong project and workload management abilities, including the capacity to balance team workload, competing priorities, timelines, and quality standards.
• Experience in developing reusable templates, standards, tools, frameworks, or design systems.
• Proficient in utilizing data, learner feedback, and business insights to assess learning effectiveness and recommend enhancements.
• Strong business acumen that connects learning design decisions with operational priorities and measurable outcomes.
• Ability to consult with senior leaders, business partners, and subject matter experts.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing capabilities.
• Comfortable balancing strategic leadership, people management, and hands-on engagement in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
