Senior Manager – Infrastructure Cybersecurity

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Lead, recruit, and nurture a team of infrastructure security architects and engineers, focusing on performance and talent management.

• Take ownership of security architecture, reference patterns, and hardening baselines for network, platform/OS, cloud, mobile, and designated IAM services.

• Establish and disseminate approved security patterns and reference architectures, including secure-by-design blueprints, guardrails, and standards.

• Propel the Zero Trust network strategy, encompassing macro- and micro-segmentation, software-defined perimeter, SASE/SSE, ZTNA, secure web gateway, DNS security, DDoS protection, and secure remote access.

• Enhance security automation and policy as code to ensure that infrastructure controls are codified, repeatable, and persistently validated.

• Coordinate the remediation of infrastructure findings and address non-compliant items.

• Keep abreast of regulatory and compliance changes, updating standards, patterns, and architectures accordingly.

• Manage relationships with vendors and external partners that support infrastructure security tools and services.

• Assist in the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree is required; a degree in a STEM field is preferred.

• Over 5 years of experience in cybersecurity or infrastructure engineering, including experience in leading technical teams.

• In-depth knowledge of infrastructure security architecture and hardening practices across network, platform/operating system, and cloud environments.

• Strong expertise in zero trust architecture, macro/micro-segmentation, SASE/SSE, ZTNA, next-generation firewalls, secure web gateway, DNS security, and DDoS protection.

• Proficient understanding of AWS and/or Azure cloud security, including cloud-native controls, landing zone design, and secure configuration practices.

• Familiarity with identity and access management as well as enterprise mobile/endpoint security.

• Solid knowledge of threat modeling and risk management; practical experience with vulnerability remediation processes.

• Experience in authoring security patterns, reference architectures, technical standards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Strong understanding of NIST 800-53 and CIS Benchmarks.

• Ability to effectively manage business stakeholders, vendors, and external partners.

• Excellent skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, interpersonal relations, collaboration, and both written and verbal communication.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without the need for sponsorship.

• Successful completion of an interview is required to meet job qualifications.

• Reliable and punctual attendance is a critical function of this position.

• Preferred: Master’s degree.

• Preferred: More than 12 years of relevant experience.

• Preferred certifications in security leadership such as CISSP, CISM, or CCSP.

• Preferred certifications in cloud and platform security such as AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Microsoft AZ-500 or SC-100, or GIAC certifications.

• Preferred identity certifications such as Microsoft SC-300 or Okta Certified Administrator.

• Preferred experience with enterprise segmentation, zero trust network strategies, enterprise mobile fleets, identity platforms, cloud-native architectures, infrastructure as code, policy as code, security automation, PKI, certificate lifecycle management, cryptography, and regulated or critical-infrastructure environments.
