This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Report directly to the VP of Finance.
• Oversee the annual budgeting process, financial forecasts, and long-term planning in alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
• Evaluate historical and current trends in essential performance indicators.
• Track performance metrics, assess unexpected variances, and deliver monthly and quarterly financial reviews.
• Manage the complete accrual process for CRO and CMO in collaboration with Clinical Operations and CMC/Manufacturing.
• Review contracts, change orders, and purchase orders for CRO/CMO to ensure accurate expense recognition.
• Identify and report budget-to-contract discrepancies to Clinical Operations and Accounting leadership.
• Act as the principal FP&A/accrual owner for quarterly assessments and year-end audits.
• Create accrual support schedules and address inquiries from external auditors.
• Develop and sustain trial-level and program-level forecasts for R&D expenditures.
• Assist with cash runway and burn-rate reporting for the Board and senior management.
• Construct financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives and executive decisions.
• Prepare presentations for the Board of Directors and the Senior Management Team.
• Oversee planning and review processes that support financial reporting and compliance with controls.
• Enhance budgeting, forecasting, operating plans, and modeling tools.
• Improve, implement, and enforce organizational policies and procedures through upgraded systems.
• Collaborate with department heads regarding overarching goals and objectives.
• Lead financial modeling and analysis for potential mergers, acquisitions, and investment opportunities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Over 6 years of experience in financial planning and analysis.
• Proven experience in a clinical-stage biotech or pharmaceuticals organization.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting standards.
• Familiarity with compliance requirements for public companies.
• Practical experience in managing CRO and CMO accruals and recognizing R&D expenses (ASC 730) within a clinical-stage life sciences firm.
• Experience in reviewing clinical and manufacturing contracts while collaborating with Clinical Operations and CMC teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with Adaptive Planning and NetSuite.
• Exceptional analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail, capacity to manage multiple tasks, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
