Senior Manager, Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +34 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee multiple engineering teams and report directly to the VP of Engineering.

• Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of over 10 software engineers and engineering managers.

• Shape the technical direction for FuzeRx’s B2B and consumer-oriented platforms.

• Spearhead the architecture, development, and deployment of secure and scalable software solutions for digital pharmacy and API-driven fulfillment platforms.

• Manage the complete software development lifecycle within the domain.

• Deliver features that enhance API-driven prescription fulfillment and pharmacy logistics.

• Collaborate with Product Management, Pharmacy Operations, Design, and QA.

• Convert healthcare compliance and patient care needs into technical roadmaps and actionable sprints.

• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and SOC2 standards while safeguarding patient data.

• Establish and monitor DORA metrics, system uptime, and bug resolution rates.

• Act as the senior escalation point for critical outages and security incidents.

• Conduct root cause analyses and implement preventive measures.

• Oversee departmental budgets, vendor relationships, and cloud infrastructure expenses.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Over 8 years of progressive experience in software engineering, architecture, and distributed systems design.

• More than 3 years of direct people management experience, including managing managers or overseeing multiple concurrent engineering teams.

• Prior experience in building scalable B2B SaaS or consumer-friendly web applications.

• Strong knowledge of complex logistical or transactional systems.

• Standard business hours; availability for on-call escalations as required.

• In-depth architectural knowledge and proven experience in deploying systems utilizing AWS, PostgreSQL, Ruby on Rails, Python, TypeScript, and JavaScript.

• Familiarity with Slack, GSuite, Coupa, and Jira.

• Demonstrated ability to build high-trust relationships, manage conflicts, and clearly communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Proven expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies, CI/CD pipeline optimization, and relational database architecture.

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or an MBA with a technology focus is preferred.

• Previous engineering leadership experience in Pharmacy Tech, Digital Health, or highly regulated environments is preferred.

• Profound understanding of healthcare data interoperability, pharmacy management systems, API-led healthcare integrations, or EHR integrations is preferred.

• Proven success in scaling engineering teams by over 50% or leading significant architecture modernization projects within an AWS ecosystem is preferred.

• Ability to work at a computer terminal with a monitor, keyboard, and mouse for extended periods.

• Capability to stoop, bend, reach, perform repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions, and lift light objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

• Proficient in verbal communication, discerning auditory information, and visually perceiving details.
