Senior Manager – Digital Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Formulate and implement the strategy, roadmap, and operational model for the observability platform.

• Lead and nurture engineering teams tasked with observability, reliability, and platform services.

• Foster the enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry, as well as standards for monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Cloud, Infrastructure, Security, and Product teams to enhance platform reliability and operational visibility.

• Spearhead modernization efforts centered on automation, self-service functionalities, cloud transformation, and AI-driven operations.

• Establish and monitor KPIs, platform health metrics, and measures of engineering effectiveness.

• Oversee platform investments, manage vendor relationships, and handle capacity planning.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in software engineering.

• More than 4 years of experience in developing observability platforms, developer platforms, or other internal engineering infrastructure.

• Minimum of 3 years managing engineering teams, including responsibilities for hiring and performance management.

• At least 3 years of experience operating a product or platform in a production environment at scale, including multi-cloud or multi-cluster settings.

• Familiarity with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Over 3 years of practical experience with monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, and OpenTelemetry.

• Proven experience in defining and managing SLIs, SLOs, and reliability initiatives.

• Experience leading teams in Agile or Scrum methodologies.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

• High school diploma with 4 years of relevant work experience accepted as an alternative qualification.

• Preferred: More than 3 years of experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, or New Relic.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, and contemporary CI/CD practices.

• Preferred: Experience in cloud modernization and operational transformation.

• Preferred: Familiarity with AIOps, AI-driven observability, and intelligent automation.

• Preferred: Experience in highly regulated sectors such as healthcare, financial services, or insurance.
