Senior Machine Learning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Design and develop essential machine learning systems for a proactive and forward-thinking AI platform.

• Take complete ownership of projects, from data curation and model training to evaluation, inference, and ongoing iteration.

• Convert innovative research concepts into reliable, high-performance production systems.

• Utilize live production signals and data to identify and resolve model anomalies and system bottlenecks.

• Implement systems, assess real-world performance metrics, refine strategies, and iterate swiftly.

• Collaborate with research, engineering, and product teams to convert technical achievements into user benefits.

• Guide and mentor fellow engineers while performing thorough code reviews and technical assessments.

• Establish a high benchmark for technical judgment through practical execution.

• Enhance model architectures for latency, computational efficiency, reliability, and safety at scale.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in a Machine Learning position.

• Proficiency in Python.

• Familiarity with PyTorch and/or JAX.

• Experience with GPU-based training and inference systems.

• Proven track record in building, deploying, and maintaining machine learning systems utilized in real-world scenarios.

• Strong practical insight into the behavior and failure modes of modern ML models in live production.

• Capability to address production edge cases effectively.

• History of writing clean, robust, production-quality code.

• Architectural mindset that goes beyond basic scripting.

• A high level of self-direction and initiative.

• Demonstrated ability to independently drive complex technical projects from concept to implementation.

• Quick to grasp new concepts.

• Ability to convey technical trade-offs clearly.
