Senior Machine Learning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +6 more countries.

📋 Description

• Act as the inaugural Senior Engineer in Machine Learning, collaborating with the Staff Engineer to establish the ML function.

• Manage the entire lifecycle of ML-driven features, encompassing research, testing, training, deployment, and ongoing production monitoring.

• Implement intelligent routing decisions throughout the payment process.

• Develop ML infrastructure, including version control, CI/CD, and observability.

• Collaborate with product, data, and engineering teams to translate use cases into tangible, measurable outcomes.

• Create practical experiments and assess models based on their impact.

• Guide engineers in acquiring ML techniques through mentorship.

• Engage directly with customers to validate concepts and test solutions in real-world scenarios.

• Assist in setting the technical direction and prioritizing ML use cases.

• Establish dependable, repeatable ML methodologies and practices at Primer.

• Report to the engineering leadership team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in ML engineering, data science, or applied research, with actual production deployments through API, batch, or streaming methods.

• Proficiency in designing and executing statistical experiments and A/B tests, with the ability to interpret and communicate results effectively.

• Strong skills in Python programming.

• Practical experience with libraries and frameworks such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.

• A solid foundation in modern software engineering practices, infrastructure, and data tools.

• Awareness of MLOps challenges throughout the complete ML lifecycle.

• Familiarity with reinforcement learning concepts, including multi-armed and contextual bandits.

• Cloud platform experience; AWS is preferred, while GCP or Azure is also acceptable.

• Ability to independently research, develop, and productionize solutions comfortably.

• Exposure to payments or e-commerce is advantageous but not mandatory.
