Senior Machine Learning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Macedonia, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Assume complete ownership of assigned tasks and projects, ensuring accountability for outcomes and results.

• Facilitate client communications, gather requirements, manage expectations, and convey deliverables.

• Comprehend business objectives and develop solutions that support their achievement, along with metrics to monitor progress.

• Collaborate across various functions with Data Engineering, DevOps, and Backend teams to integrate machine learning solutions.

• Design, construct, and maintain generative AI systems from start to finish, including applications powered by LLMs and autonomous workflows.

• Implement RAG pipelines that encompass data ingestion, chunking, embeddings, and vector search.

• Establish evaluation frameworks and conduct production monitoring for output quality, accuracy, latency, cost, and reliability.

• Manipulate, explore, visualize, and clean data, considering distribution differences that impact post-deployment performance.

• Deploy, sustain, and upgrade machine learning models and pipelines.

• Analyze model errors and devise strategies to address them.

• Create and maintain technical documentation.

• Drive architectural decisions and contribute to high-level planning and strategy.

• Optimize solutions for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, particularly within AWS.

• Engage with clients to understand business and technical requirements, evaluate solutions, and define implementation approaches and estimates.

• Contribute to internal engineering initiatives and improvement projects.

• Act as the primary ML specialist across various projects.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior ML engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

• Over 4 years of experience in AI/ML engineering.

• Demonstrated experience in building GenAI solutions, prompt engineering, fine-tuning and serving LLMs, search and embeddings, and developing agents using common patterns such as Agentic RAG and NLQ, utilizing frameworks like LangChain/LangGraph, LlamaIndex, smolagents, and strands-agents.

• Strong understanding of statistical, ML, and deep learning algorithms.

• Extensive experience with cloud ML services, preferably AWS (including Bedrock, AgentCore, SageMaker).

• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools.

• Experience in client-facing roles.

• Advanced proficiency in Python and core ML libraries and frameworks (including scikit-learn, PyTorch, HuggingFace, TensorFlow, Transformers).

• Proven track record of mentoring junior engineers and enhancing team output.

• Ability to lead client communications and manage expectations independently with confidence.

• Demonstrated autonomy, adaptability, and a consistently positive presence within teams.

• Excellent command of English for meetings, customer calls, and business communications.
